As the majority of Te Rito Maioha programmes are taught online, Te Rito Maioha asks students to ensure they meet the following technical requirements to the best of their ability, to ensure the best experience with study and the online learning platforms.

  • Internet access
  • A computer or device that allows you to:
    • browse the internet
    • download and store PDFs
    • send and receive emails
    • download, create and edit Microsoft Word documents (.pages documents produced by Mac computers are not accepted)
    • view video files and listen to audio files
    • participate in online conversations, online web conferences and so on.

Students will receive a student Office 365 license; this will include a @ecnz.ac.nz email account.

PC

  • PC capable of running Windows 10 or later
  • 22-inch colour external monitor
  • Sound card and speakers
  • Microphone and webcam
  • Access to a printer

Mac

  • All new Macintosh computers will meet your needs
  • Access to a printer

Common software

  • Microsoft Office 365 for Windows or Mac
  • Web browser:
    • Google Chrome – latest version
    • Mozilla Firefox – latest version 
    • Apple Safari – latest version
    • Microsoft Edge browser – version 10 or above recommended.
    • Adobe Reader
    • Apple QuickTime or Windows Media Player and Adobe Flash.

Optional

  • A headset is recommended for web-conferencing sessions.
